On the left you can see one side of the grapple cut out of the plates,and some test-fitting.

01 april 2015:

Above you can see the sorting grapple,wich I started building september last year,now the excavator is ready and functioning good, I continue with the construction of the grapple.

On the left you can see the first parts made,and the rest to follow.On the right you can see the milling of all the plates in one go.

Above you can see that I first soldered the parts together,so they will stay in place during welding.

on the left you can see that I made some bronze bushings, that functions as bearings.

After the welding the two grapple parts are further finished with sanding paper and a small grinding tool.

Above you can see the two halves closed with the knifes to each other.

On the left a close up of the pin in place.On the right you can see the first parts of the hydraulic cylinder that are made of brass.

On the left you can see the drilling of the holes in the cylinder head,so later on some threat can be made in there to hold the bolds.On the right you can see the cylinder soldered together.

On the left you can see that the rest of the parts are made here.On the right you can see the cylinder fully assembled and tested with 20 Bar pressure,the cylinder has a length of 70 mm,piston diameter is 16 mm,so the force is around 40 kg for the outgoing stroke.
