On the left you can see that the lock is only soldered to the hood,so it can be tilted to open it.
To be continued.....
On the left you can see that the edge of hole is made with a small strip of brass. On the right you can see the part ready, and on the background a picture of the real truck.
Above you can see the lower fender part mounted on the truck again, and the next thing is to make the locks that hold the hood in place.
On the left you can see the locks made, with on the background a picture ofthe real ones.On the right you can see the lock soldered in place on the hood.
On the left you can see the grill finished. On the right you can see that the sides of the grill are slightly bended into an angle also.

The next to construck is the grill. On the left you can see that the material I make it from is from a old car speaker grill that is made from thin metal, and the first bends are made.. .On the right you can see the bending in process,it's a tricky job, because the grill several recesses.
Then I use the grinding tool with a small grinding disk to cut the logo out.On the right you can see the finished cutting,to remove the template simply put it in hot water, and it will come lose.
On the left you can see the print of the Cat logo glued with wood glue on a piece of polished stainless steel. On the right you can see the sawing of the logo,I only saw the parts that can't be reached with the grinding tool.
Above you can see how I make the template so I can cut out the corner pieces exact to the desired size.
On the left you can see the finished logo .On the right you can see the grill and the logo assembled to the hood, the surrounding area is already sprayed in colour,so it can be covered uo when spraying the rest of the hood later on.28 Februari 2016:
On the left you can see the pieces cut out from stainless steel 1 mm.On the right you can see the pieces bent ,welded ,grinded and sanded.
Above you can see the support cylinder mounted on the front of the truck, with the support foot retracted and extended.
On the left you can see the pieces polished. On the right you can see that the pieces are glued in place with 2 components glue.
And now the side pieces are in place, the template for the center piece is made, and the center piece itself could be made.On the right a closeup from it all.17 March 2016:
To be able to lift something over the cabine with the palfinger crane, I need a support at the front bumper. On the left you can see the construction of the cylinder, diameter is 9 mm.On the right you can see that the end of the pistonrod is made round,so the support foot, wich I bought from Scale-Art,can be attached to the piston rod.
On the left you can see that the cylinder is soldered to a holder,an assembled. The end cap of the cylinder is removable for service on the piston, and for the detail there are made some bolts on top of it.
To make it look that the cylinder can be tilted to open the hood,on one side I made a plate that is bolted,on the other side I made a plate that has the function of a end-plate03 April 2016:
Next thing to make is are the light holders in the hood.On the left you can see some lenses that where to large,so I grinded them smaller to fit my model. On the right you can see how I made the light holder for the turning signal from an 1:8 light holder,on the background a picture of the original truck lights.
On the left you can see that I made a holder from black pvc,and glued the lenses in place .on the right you can see the testing of the unit.
On the left you can see the light holder glued in place in the hood, and testing the turning signal light. On the right you can see the testing of the dimmed light.
Left with headlight, right all the lights on.
And the turningsignal on the side of te fenders is made and glued in place.
