Above you can see the walkway and the box on my model.After the paint has been applied,I will put a "tank" behind the opening in the box,to make it more realistic.

On the left you can see that the holes are cut in the panel,and the gitter is soldered in place.On the right you can see the finished panel on top of a picture of the real machine.

The last parts on the enigine cover plating have been made.On the left you can see in the middle the two doors,and above of the doors a hatch.On the right you can see that the hatch also can be opened.

On the left picture you can see that the exhaust is also made,original it points to the back of the machine,but there should be the gps antenna be damaged by the hot exhaust fumes,so I turned it to the side.In real life you can also see this be done,as you can see on the right picture of a Cat385 LME.20 August 2014:

On the left you can see the walkway trough the machine.

Above you can see that on one end of the walkway is a box.In the box is a tank for the overflow of the enigine coolant fluid,the other one holds the windscreen cleaner fluid.

On the left you can see the finished hydraulic valve block.It is placed on the panel wich covers the electro motor for the swing drive,in front you see the rear ( dummy) swing drive.On the right you can see the whole assembly placed in the model.20 September 2014:

On the left you can see the holder of the hydraulic hoses,underneath the hydraulic valve block is placed there,so I am making this detail also on my model.

After the work on the hydraulic cylinders ( what you can see on the hydraulics page ), I started with disassembling the boom and some parts of the upper carriage to be painted.Because I have to wait till the half of Oktober for the hydraulic valves and pumps to arrive,I can paint in this time.Also the hydraulic lines are not checked for leakage,and I perform a leak test on them also,before they are painted.

On the left you can see all the parts after disassembling.On the right you can see that the cylinders and quick coupler are painted.

On the left you can see the leak test of one of the hydraulic lines with a bicycle pump that can reach 20 Bar pressure.On the right you can see all the parts after the painting,ready to be assembled .24 September 2014:

There was still a little detail that I should add to the buckets; at the original machines the rear coupler side bended out over time,and the bucket wasn't attached good to the quick coupler anymore,and of course it was not safe to work with also.So they welded a piece of metal over that spot,and of course I made them on my model also,as you can see above.

Above on the left you can see the assembly of the boom in progress.On the right you can see all the parts assembled,and also the hydraulic hoses are assembled.

On the left a close-up of the right hand side of the machine.Also you can see that the backside covers are not painted yet,that is because the pumps and valves still have to be assembled,and maybe the covers need a little adjustment then,so I wait with the painting till all parts are assembled.

Above you can see all the hoses connected to the central block.

On the left you can see that I made removeable dust covers on the quick connectors.On the right you can see the spring loaded electrical connection for the 2 working lights on the counterweight,so now it is easy to remove and place the counterweight.17 oktober 2014:

While waiting on the hydraulic pumps and valves, I started with the drawing of the demolition grapper I want to build to attach on the excavator.
